The Geek Trilogy

The Geek Trilogy is a three single release under the artist name Joe Sung-Rae. The trilogy uses fandom to explore tones of confidence & empowerment, and to serve as a transition into new, bolder sounds.

Track 1 is Sith (feat. Skoolboi Krush). Produced by Krush, the song uses the Star Wars role as a metaphor for one’s inner villain.

Track 2 is Gook, a critique of American culture through the lens of the Asian-American experience and 16-bit video games.

Track 3 is walk thru, featuring dkntl, zaid khan, & j lilium. The song is directly inspired by the hit nbc sitcom The good place, and delves into themes of farewells.

All three songs, combined, reinforced themes previously explored in Work in progress & happyboy. they also served as a way to connect with frequent collaborators and grow as an artist.
